How We Verify Every Listing
The five steps
1. Compile. Each listing starts from the property's own public information — its site, its official room inventory, and established directories. We record the exact room type names the property itself publishes.
2. Cross-check. Where two independent directories list the same property and room type, the signal is stronger — but it still isn't a confirmation.
3. Confirm directly. Our research team emails and then calls the property to confirm: the amenity exists, which room types have it, and (for heated and seasonal pools) the months and target temperatures. Only a direct property confirmation earns the “Verified” badge.
4. Publish honestly. Every card shows what we know and how we know it: listed rates are labeled “listed rates,” ratings are shown as published, and anything unverified is labeled “Listing in verification” with a recommendation to confirm when booking.
5. Re-check. Amenities change — pools close for renovation, room categories get renamed. Verified listings are re-checked on a cycle, and the page's “last verified” date tells you when we were last there.
The labels you will see
Listing in verification — compiled from public listings; direct property confirmation is in progress. Verified — the property confirmed the amenity and room type directly with our team, with the confirmation date on the card. We never use a bare “verified” without saying who verified it and when.
What we will not do
We will not invent a phone call, a price, a rating, or a room type. We will not upgrade a hotel's claim (a private hot tub is never listed as a private pool). We will not accept payment for rank position.
